Jehovah Tsidkenu – The LORD Our Righteousness
Jehovah Tsidkenu – The LORD Our Righteousness
Story: In a prophecy about the coming Messiah, Jeremiah refers to God as Jehovah Tsidkenu, indicating that through the Messiah, God would provide righteousness for His people.
Living in the Righteousness of Christ
Knowing God as Jehovah Tsidkenu changes the way we live. When we understand that our righteousness comes from God and not from ourselves, it frees us from the burden of trying to earn His favor through good works. Instead, we can rest in the finished work of Christ, knowing that we are already accepted by God.
At the same time, this righteousness that has been imparted to us through Christ also calls us to live righteously. While we are not saved by our works, true faith will naturally produce a life of obedience and good deeds. As Paul writes in Ephesians 2:10:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Living in the righteousness of Christ means reflecting His character in our actions, relationships, and choices. It means allowing His righteousness to shape our lives so that we become more like Him each day.
